Jake Roggenkamp instantly demands attention with the unique quality of his voice. His range hits all the right high notes with immense strength and ease while an interesting texture emerges from his reedy timbre. It seems like there is no limit to the vocal aerobatics he performs and it is evident in the boundary pushing songs he writes. With each tune Jake explores new genres, structures, and melodies. By his side is his musical partner, Michael Saiewitz, who creates a balance of smooth harmonies with his lower range. The way they blend their two distinctive voices together is part of the magic of The Break Lights. This seemingly effortless and natural sonic force is the result of writing and performing together for a decade.

The Break Lights is easily one of the most underground alternative rock bands to exist. Their rehearsal/recording/art studio is even in a basement! For years they have embraced the DIY music scene by recording, mixing, and mastering on Michael's Macbook Pro. As a graphic and web designer, Michael has put his skills to great use designing everything from album art to the band's website.
